StiQRd (pronounce it "stickered") is an app that's a sleeker version of customer loyalty punch cards — the kinds used by, say, restaurants and dry cleaners to keep you coming back.
Rachel's background in journalism and social media has placed her at the forefront of this kind of innovation. She was talking with Aaron Prather and Andy Glover — now CEO and CIO of StiQRd — and the idea for their startup was born. Eventually, the
Seed Hatchery gave them its blessing to be part of its investment and mentoring program.
"Memphis is on the move," Rachel said. "That's why I love what I'm doing. Each startup here is a statement that this is not the land of cotton anymore, but we're on our way to be a tech leader in the South." But by saying "tech leader," it's not just slick hardware and software; it's also a process, a way of thinking.
Part of the development of StiQRd was nurtured in meetings such as
BarCamp — described as a "un-conference" that unearths novel uses of technology. And there's no better way to describe the tone of the team behind StiQRd than to see its website at
StiQRd.com — the FAQs alone are highly entertaining.
