TROY GLASGOW
Jennifer Dabbs Sciubba
Rhodes College, Mellon Environmental Fellow
by JON SPARKS
It sounds rather modest when Jennifer says, "I'm a writer and an educator." But there's some enormous intellectual drive behind all that as the Rhodes professor studies, analyzes and explains the intricate workings of demographics and politics on the global stage. An expert on international security and former consultant to the Department of Defense, Jennifer has found herself even more in demand outside the classroom as a result.

Last year she published her first book, "The Future Faces of War: Population and National Security," which she said, “had very fortuitous timing.” As things began to unfold in Tunisia, Egypt and other countries, Dr. Sciubba was called on as an expert to explain the internal dynamics of the Middle East unrest.

Jennifer moved here three years ago from Washington, D.C. and was instantly won over by Memphis. "In the space of a couple of months we had a huge network of really genuine people we became friends with," she said. "I love the South Main neighborhood where I live. The people are out and about on Trolley Night and we like to eat up the street and especially at Mollie Fontaine.”
